Choosing the Final Name by Evaluation Scores
Observing all the tips stated up to this stage, you will reach the final list. At this stage, determined people will probably reach two or three names out of the long list they had prepared; it is even possible that all names have been removed and they may have to make a new list. Easygoing people, on the other hand, may have seven or eight names on their list.
One efficient way is to consider a score from 1 to 100 for each of these variables, first of all. For instance, your selected name can receive:
100 scores in terms of similarity with other names;
70 scores in terms of ease of pronunciation;
50 scores in terms of spelling because it has different spelling formats;
100 scores in terms of attractiveness for different people;
65 scores in terms of cultural meaning.
Now, calculate the average scores for each name. To do that, you must add the scores of all criteria for each name, and then divide it by the number of name evaluation criteria to achieve the total score of the suggested name.
If the scores were far apart and, for instance, one of the names received 95 scores and the rest obtained 60 or 70, the result is obvious.
If two or more names received equal or approximately equal scores, implement the following methods;
The first method is to ask other people’s opinions only on the remaining names, and then select accordingly.
The second method is to analyze how the names were scored and assess whether the scoring was accurate enough.
Since your list was long, you may have made a mistake in assigning scores. It is possible that after another calculation, one of the names stands out from the rest and achieves a passing score and the final choice will be made this way.
