Over the Volcanoes: A Journey Five Hundred Thousand Years Back

They switched on. In few moments, the monitor showed terrible noises. A picture of a big cattle resembling horses and a green field to which they were running away, appeared.

Tom was following them in the special machine. The machine protectors removed and Nicole was standing. She was laughing loudly but Tom looked forward more or less.

The cameras turned forward, the cattle turned away their way suddenly and in that side some unknown animals, few like our time animals, followed the cattle. They were scared away the opposite mountains. On the peak, smokes were rising. Few tremors made. Nicole sat in the machine and the protectors covered them. The stronger shakes trilled the pictures. Air cameras moved following the machine acted to give a clear picture. There were four active peaks ahead. The animals were running away from each side. On the peaks, first slight explosions appeared.

The scene was both interesting and terrible. The explosions changed from once in a minute to few moments and as the four peaks were active, like an artillery unit, the nonstop explosions occurred and the lava came out of the volcano high in sky, thereafter the molten lava flowed down.

The control center called Tom but he carelessly went on moving toward the molten lava. Some rocks hit the machine and probably it could make a damage but he did not intend to be back. Nearby the lava, the machine hanging, took some pictures in low level.

Tom wanted Nicole to give commands to the computer to ask for a sampling device; that was sent to him quickly. He sent some lava, stones and a piece of a tree.

He did not wish to return and moved toward the peak. On the monitor the picture of volcano was like a molten iron. How great the natural casting bowl it was! Heat, fire made a real hell!
