In Orbit While the Earth Burns
Some minutes later they were on the Earth orbit and rotated of the same speed trying not to be deviated. Special cameras and the monitors had been activated. First aerolites observed on the monitors. They were pieces of an exploded planet that colored green, this was a distinctive factor than others. They hit the atmosphere at a high speed. Few stopped but most of them could pass. There was a disturbance on the Earth. Continuous explosions shook the Earth like boiling water and there was no chance to do even a bit. The computers were running nonstop Nicole's programs to avoid hitting the aerolites. The Earth was gradually observed in red and green colors. A red fire covered every corner. Some mountain disintegration was so exciting and wonderful that seemed to be a horror dream. Some huge mountains changed to a heap on hitting the aerolites. The seas disposed for some moments and looked like rivers. Some canyons changed flat and the air was filled up with sulfur, dusts and nothing else visible. Time flew with horror. The smallest miscalculation may have caused the machine to be disintegrated. The aerolites speed was too high for the defensive system to react on time. It was programmed so that if hitting was probable, the stone would be destroyed ten seconds before striking. They did not even have time to scratch head, each movement was under control and Tom's body became benumbed. He fixed his eyes on the monitors and Nicole was testing the computers.
As if Doomsday raised it was dreadful; if Nicole did not fall to work, she could not bear the situation.
