Finishing the Manuscript
Steve sits at his desk, furiously writing away on his laptop. He’s been at this quite some time. The growth of hair on his face, and the ever-growing pile of dirty dishes, and crumpled up paper, shows just how much time has passed. He doesn’t spend all of this time completely alone – Greg and Hillary come and go, separately.
Finally, Steve sifts through a huge pile of papers - his full manuscript, and sighs. He also finds Greg’s dried and shriveled up booger. ‘Hmm. I knew I heard something; wondered where it went.’ He thinks to himself. Steve’s fingers are killing him. Steve scratches his face - he’s got three-days’ worth of growth on it. “Wow, time sure does fly when you’re having fun!” He says to himself. Just then, Hillary, dressed as Little Bo Peep, comes out of the bedroom and walks over to him. “You can say that again, my boy. So, how’s it going?” “Take a look; the book is finally done.” Steve said anxiously. “Yes, that’s my boy! Oh, we need to go out and celebrate.” Hillary is really excited now.
“Ah... Okay, but you might want to change first,” Steve suggests. “Yeah, I guess so.” Hillary said beginning to laugh. Hillary turns to leave and change her clothes. She exits the room. Steve dials his phone, grimaces and yelps in pain as he pushes the buttons. “Hey, Linda; it’s Steve again. Is Jan around- what, still?
