From a Yacht Daydream to the First Printed Copy
Steve has gone without sleep for days. His mind slips into another daydream. The clear blue-green waters of the Atlantic. A few fluffy white clouds drift overhead. Steve, decked out in full yachting garb, stands at the steering wheel of a huge luxury motor boat. Greg, Hillary, Linda, Larry and Jan - dressed for fun in the sun - recline in deck chairs.
Steve steers the boat. Many rocks and reefs appear in front of the boat like an obstacle course. Steve swerves to avoid them. The others are tossed about - they fall all over the place, spill their drinks and drop food on each other. The skies grow dark, the waves get larger, and soon a full hurricane is howling about them.
Steve slowly exits his daydream, and comes back to reality. “Huh, maybe I’ll stick to... land-based stuff.” Over the next few hours and days reality sets in for Steve, as he and Hillary meet at her office to review the manuscript and contract. Hillary, an editor and Steve look over the book, and make notes. Steve talks on the phone to Linda several times, but she keeps telling him that Jan is not there.
Hillary presents Steve with the first copy of the book. They all congratulate each other for a job well done, as they look the book over. With his book complete, Steve and Hillary travel to New York to sell it to the big publishers.
