How to Choose a Brand Name
Write down some explanations about the name you intend to turn into a brand and clarify the following items:
What point do you want to make by bringing forward the corresponding name?
In what title do you want the target market to recognize the corresponding name?
What unique feature do you have that you want to offer to people under your brand?
What methods do you need to apply so that merely seeing your brand’s names the audience/consumers/ customers are reminded of you and the value you offer? For example, when people hear the name Adidas, they think of their sport shoes and clothes and/or they may even recall the ads of that company.
Write a tagline about the name of your brand. This tagline is something you want the audiences to recall when they see the name of your brand.
Select and design your brand per the target market; when you design a brand for, say, surgeons, the design and color palette of the brand should be different from the one you use when you intend to offer that brand to the general public.
Choose a name for your brand that can be easily pronounced. It’s better if it’s rhythmic and conveys certain information especially when it’s not a proper noun. Selecting a proper noun is one of the methods of branding a name. Some brands use proper nouns that are totally irrelevant to their products. Uber, Apple and thousands of other brands are some of the examples. Selecting this method depends on your strategy. The perk of a proper noun is that people have no background about it and you can promote it more easily and quickly. When a name contains a specific meaning, some audience may have prejudice about it and promoting it may become more difficult. An example would be when you select a meaningless word such as “Khadoun”, you must conduct a proper research to find out whether there’s no negative connotation or meaning for it in other languages. When you select a proper noun, your hands are free for designing strategy.
