Steve Finds a Great Idea and Greg Sets Up the Investors

While several children playing in the park chased each other in a game of tag, Steve stopped and looked at a nearby tree. He noticed a spider's web high on a branch and stared at it. He noticed the kids chatting happily away as they clearly decided on a new game to play. Steve smiled, jumped in the air, spun around and bolted back toward the way he had come. “Yes! An idea!” he shouted. “A good idea. A truly great idea!” A bit later that day, as Greg lounged on the couch in Steve’s apartment, Steve sat at his desk and worked on his laptop, which was connected by cables to the TV. A bit of animation finished playing on the screen. Steve turned off the television, turned to Greg, and asked, “So, what do you think? You think it's a winner?” Greg slowly nodded and smiled for the first time all day.

“Yeah. A couple late nights was all it took. So, what's our next move on this?”

“Well,” Greg began, “how about I line up a meeting with some people as potential investors? I'll talk to that gallery owner, ah, Jan Buckley or Buckman or whatever her name is. Maybe she'll let us use her place.”

Steve agreed. “Yeah, that's what I'm talking about: money men and women!”

Greg was pleased that his friend was finally showing motivation. He wanted to strike while the iron, as well as his friend, was hot. “You got it, buddy. In fact, I think I know a couple of local people who might bite at this. Oh, and by the way, Dwight called to say that he's not going to be hiring you anymore. He got too many complaints from that, what shall we call it, that wedding incident.”

“Steve, it is a definite possibility,” Greg reassured him. “I honestly do believe this is a good idea you've come up with this time.”

Steve was relieved and even a little confident for the first time in a long while. “Yeah, if this deal works out like we figure, we won't need his crumbs any more, will we?”

“No, you got that right, Steve. I'll make some calls and see about setting up a presentation. Oh, I also have some big news!”
